Mini Crit: 11/11/13

Feedback from the mini crit
Critters: Martin, Luke, Lisa, Tani, Simon, Chris.

High Spirits: Everyone agreed that the colours at the moment are perhaps not luxe enough to fit in with the current branding, and that we should try to experiment with using more metallic colours. People stated that the hot air balloon is too reminiscent of Phileas Fogg, and that maybe me and Lisa should just try using different inconography. They thought that the kite works well.

Penguin book cover: For this brief I showed the group both of my cover ideas, the cover with the fists, and the cover with the paper chain people.  In terms of audience, they all agreed that the more illustrative cover reaches the primary audience (teenagers) most successfully, and that the book with the paper chain gang is probably more of an adult audience as it is more photographic and simple. They did suggest trying to include the use of gold onto the paper chain people cover, and I am also going to try and include the gold more in the illustrated cover in more subtle ways.

Very Christmas: Martin suggested checking out the checkthis website as an alternative to Big Cartel for the online distribution of the cards. Everyone suggested that plastic bags would work better for packaging the postcards because they are more protective, and that I could create labels or have an extra card inside the packaging for the address. £1 is probably a reasonable price for a post card, try working around this amount, (£1.50) was their maximum.
