Brief 11: Christmas Charity Card Research

John Lewis

John Lewis sells a wide variety of Christmas charity cards, although it seems that only a small amount of the money from selling the cards actually goes to the charities. The boxes are good value though, however this is because John Lewis are a large company and therefore they can sell more stock at lower prices.
Many of the cards that are sold here are more traditional, mainly because of their more middle class and adult target audience.






Marks and SpencerMarks and Spencers only have a small range of Christmas charity cards and the styles are very limited and mainly traditional, again because they have a more middle class adult audience. The prices of these cards are incredibly cheap, but it does not state how much of the proceeds from the sales of these cards goes to charity. 
PaperchasePaperchase have a larger range of charity cards than Marks and Spencers do, and you can tell from the style of cards that the audience they are trying to appeal to is very different, with a lot less traditional style cards on sale, with more variety in styles of image, such as illustration and type. Again, the cards have a good price point, which appeals to their younger audience. Like Marks and Spencers, it doesn't say how much money actually goes to charity, but I can imagine it's quite a small percentage. Also, again with them being a large company, they can afford to sell larger quantities of stock at smaller prices.
