Brief 6: Packaging Ideas

Me and Lisa went into a mini crit yesterday with some other peers, which we found useful, and this has motivated us to get cracking with this project, seeing as our deadline is before Christmas. We still have a lot to do, but we have a clear idea of what we want and we know how we are going to make it happen. Lisa is working more on the label designs, combining design aspects from both of our original designs. I am looking more now at the packaging of the products in terms of how they would leave the store. We want to include a gift box, a bag and a bottle carrier. Bags will be used for the smaller products, whilst the bottle carrier is obviously best for when customers may be carrying a number of products. The gift box we are including to add to the high quality finish of our branding, and it is a detail that we think will make our products more desirable. Continuing with the slogan theme that we will be exploring on our business cards, we want to use humorous quotes about alcohol on the inside of our gift boxes, which would be printed in gold. The box will be cardboard or cork based to tie in with our other products, and the inside of the door will be also be printed gold.

Lisa has already researched into potential nets we could use for the gift boxes, and the one we thought would be most practical and successful was a simple tall gift box net, which opens from one side of the box. The outside of the box will include our logo, our image (we are currently working with a ladder image), and a stamp that will say 'enjoy your_' and whichever alcohol they have chosen will be hand written.

This is a digital mock up of the product and how it would look inside and out.

I was also thinking more about the bag, and how we could possible incorporate the ladder into this effectively. At the moment it's a work in progress, these were just some initial ideas that I mocked up to show Lisa and see how they would work. Obviously it's not very practical to have a very long straight handle, and visually it doesn't work that well either, we just thought it would be more interactive and engaging to include this.
