New Brief 9: Front Covers

These are the front covers that I have now decided on, and will continue to develop into a full cover with a spine and a back. To make it look more like a cohesive series, I have had to make small ammendments to each cover, and am glad that I have now decided on a more limited colour palette.  Concept 1:
Based on the idea of there being two sides to each of the main characters, as well as typographic play on the idea of disappearing where the black text meets the black background. This would be finished as a black spot finish so that it was still readable.

Concept 2:
Based on the idea of a the reader getting a distorted view of the full story thanks to the misleading diary entries from both Nick and Amy. The text would be either be die cut, simply left as a cut out on photoshop or printed onto tracing paper so that it the image below shows through. The image inside the text is an image of what would be Amy: an image of her ponytail, which is the first Nick sees of his wife on the morning of her disappearance.

Concept 3:
This design is based on the fact that the day of Amy's disappearance is on their fifth anniversary. The modern gift giving etiquette states that silverware should be given, and the first clue of Amy's scavenger hunt is contained in a silver gift box. The ring encircling Gone Girl represents the wedding rings, and also creates a trap for the text, which relates to the conclusion of the book.

Concept 4:Similar to concept 2, this is based on the idea of Nick's obsession with Amy's head, and the fact that this is the first thing he sees on the morning of her disappearance. There is also a sense of mystery provided by the image as her face isn't visible.
